As if we couldn’t love her anymore after the support shown following the horrific attack after her Manchester concert, Ariana Grande has out done herself. According to The Sun, Ariana and her team got bee tattoos after the epic One Love concert backstage by Manchester Ink, as a tribute to the city and those involved in the terror attack.
They weren’t the only ones inking permanent support on their bodies, though. Other Manchester tattoo artists helped to launch the Manchester Tattoo fundraiser to raise money for the families of victims, with bee tattoos costing £50 - and hundreds of people took the plunge to show solidarity.
But why bees? The bee is the symbol of Manchester’s industrial past and has been a strong representative of Manchester since the Industrial Revolution. The Manchester worker bee not only depicts the city’s hard-working past, it symbolises the textile mills, that were often described as ‘hives of activity.’
The emotional concert on Sunday received a peak of 14.5 million viewers, marking a new record of being the biggest TV show of the year so far. This kind of support is quantifiable to the love that clearly went into organising such an emotional evening for Manchester by Ariana and her team. At just 23-years-old, Ariana has handled a situation most would crumble at in the most admirable way, and getting Manchester’s symbol tattooed on her is just testament of this.
