In a world dominated by sweaty, tropical pop-blasting nightclubs populated by a sea of bodycon dress-wearing girls drinking from fishbowls and taking selfies while singing Despacito at the top of their voices, 75-year-old Aretha Franklin is offering us a breath of fresh air - by promising to open a club that will surely hark back to the glory days of 'going out out'.
The legendary soul singer has revealed her plans to open a nightclub in her hometown of Detroit - promising fans that she'll also be performing again from time-to-time at the hot spot, which will be called Aretha's - natch - and will no doubt be playing a roster of motown classics.

'I'm interested in doing a small nightclub downtown, and [Bruce Schwartz] (Detroit relocation ambassador for Bedrock Real Estate Services) and I have been talking about this for a couple of years now,' Franklin told the Detroit Free Press. 'In my retirement plan, I'd like to have a small club here in Detroit.
'From time to time I would sing, and of course, I would have special artists come in to perform for the city that people in Detroit like — Detroit favourites.'
Franklin was one of the most prolific singers of the 1960s and 1970s, earning her the nickname the Queen of Soul. Some of her most famous songs include Respect, You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman and Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves.
