In a world where celebrity pregnancies are big news, it’s nothing short of miraculous whenever an A-list star manages to keep their pregnancy secret for any length of time (or refuse to confirm it at all, a la Cheryl). The previous holder of Longest Secret Pregnancy goes to Eva Mendes, who managed to keep her second baby with Ryan Gosling a surprise until a few weeks before she was due to give birth, confusing the entire world in the process. Now, there’s a new contender for the title: Russian tennis ace Anna Kournikova, who just gave birth to twins with her long-time beau Enrique Iglesias without anyone ever knowing that she was with child.
According to a report by TMZ, the Spanish popstar became a father this past weekend, with Kournikova giving birth to a boy and girl twin, who they have named Nicholas and Lucy. The refreshingly normal names follow a trend set by George and Amal Clooney, who named their own twins Ella and Alexander earlier this year. Indeed, it’s been a big year for twins in Hollywood, with Beyonce and Jay Z also welcoming two newborns, Sir and Rumi, in June.
So, how did Kournikova do it? The last time that she was photographed by the paparazzi was in November 2016, during a boat ride with Iglesias in Miami. Since then, she’s been away from the public eye, although that’s nothing new for the notoriously private couple. Over on her social media feeds, she’s stayed active but refrained from sharing any selfies, mainly sharing old pictures and ones of her dogs, or face-up selfies. There’s a bit of a bump in a video she posted on August 9, but her loose top more than covers it.
Personally, we’re just obsessed with the fact that this couple are still going strong, 16 years after meeting on the set of Iglesias’s music video for ‘Escape’.
