Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield may have called time on their relationship back in 2015, but it’s fair to say that the pair have kept things very amicable since then, proving that yes, you can stay on friendly terms with your ex. So friendly, in fact, that they won’t mind being stuck on a desert island together.
Before you get too over-excited, the pair aren’t appearing on a joint edition of Desert Island Discs. When participating in a round-table discussion for the Hollywood Reporter, Andrew was faced with the hypothetical dilemma: ‘You’re on a desert island and can have one actor or actress with you. Who?’
His answer? ‘Emma Stone. I love Emma… She’s all right. She can come.’ We’re not sure whether to take that as further proof that their friendship is fireproof, or as a hint that this particular love story isn’t quite over yet. Or there’s always the possibility that– in addition to being a devastatingly talented actor and singer – Emma secretly possesses survival skills to rival those of Bear Grylls.
The former couple met on the set of The Amazing Spiderman, and were together for four years. Emma and Andrew have been spotted out and about together since deciding to call it quits last year (most recently walking through London’s Covent Garden) and in a recent interview with Vogue, Emma described her ex as ‘someone I still love very much.’
With Emma’s performance in La La Land and Andrew’s role in Hacksaw Ridge earning critical plaudits, it’s surely only a matter of time before their paths cross on the awards season trail. Just get back together already, please?
