Do you remember seeing Ana De Armas in Beatles-inspired comedy Yesterday? No? That's because - even though she was in the trailer - she wasn't in it.
And two fans have now filed a lawsuit over the actor's cut role in the film, claiming they were misled into watching it. Conor Woulfe and Peter Michael Rosza filed a class action lawsuit against Universal Pictures, the film’s US distributors, claiming having Ana in the trailer, when she wasn't in the final edit of the film, was 'false, misleading, and deceptive'.
Both fans claimed that they rented the film for $3.99 - and they are now seeking $5m in compensation for any other affected viewers in their home states of California and Maryland. The complaint filed on Friday reads, according to The Hollywood Reporter: 'Although Defendant included the scenes with Ms. De Armas in the movie trailer advertisements, for the purposes of promoting Yesterday and enticing film sales and rentals, Ms. De Armas is not and was never in the publicly released version of the movie.'
It continues: 'Unable to rely on fame of the actors playing (main character) Jack Malik or Ellie to maximise ticket and movie sales and rentals, Defendant consequently used Ms de Armas's fame, radiance and brilliance to promote the film by including her scenes in the movie trailers advertising Yesterday.'
Ana was set to be a love interest of the singer (who was the only person in the world to remember The Beatles) - played by Himesh Patel - but screenwriter Richard Curtis later said Ana, who was 'brilliant' in the role, had been cut as the Bond actress distracted from the love story between the singer and another woman.
