Have you been seeing the acronym AOC all over your Twitter feed today? Here’s why. A video of newly sworn-in Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AKA AOC) performing a dance from the Breakfast Club has gone viral after being shared in an attempt to humiliate her.

A 30-second clip of a longer video which Ocasio-Cortez filmed while at University was posted to Twitter by @AnonymousQ1776 with the caption: ‘Here is America’s favorite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is.’

Instead of humiliating her, the video has actually boosted her popularity – with people tweeting about how endearing it is.

‘Hahaha she’s fantastic,’ tweeted Russell Crowe. ‘The more politicians we have like @AOC the sooner we’ll all be dancing. This is a real person, in touch with her roots. She has a perspective, a work ethic & a humanity based philosophy that seeks the best outcome for the most people. More power to her.’

‘Imagine what a major ass-head one would have to be to think that video of @AOC dancing is anything but adorable and endearing and charming,’ added Zach Braff.

The user @AnonymousQ1776 has since deleted the account, but the video is still circulating across social media.

Ocasio-Cortez is no social media novice, the 29-year-old politician from The Bronx has over two million followers between her Twitter and Instagram accounts. A photo of her from Vanity Fair posing with five other women who were also being sworn in went viral earlier this week.

127 women were sworn into office on Thursday January 3rd - the largest number ever. Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, other firsts include Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar who are the first Muslim women in Congress.
