Forget pictures of turkey feasts, this Thanksgiving a number of celebrities have taken to Instagram to share a different kind of festive message.
Stars including Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne and Olivia Wilde have all posted a message directed at Ivanka Trump asking her to help young immigrants.
The A-listers all posted an identical message asking the President’s daughter to save young immigrants, known as DREAMers, who moved to the US as children but now face deportation under Trump’s presidency. The message calls for Ivanka to help pass the CLEAN Dream Act which will ensure these children are safe.
‘Dear Ivanka, I see you’re following me on Instagram. This Thanksgiving I would be grateful if you use the influence you have to advocate for a CLEAN Dream Act by December,’ they wrote.
‘Every day that passes without a clean DREAM Act means anxiety and deportation for immigrant youth. 7,901 youth have already lost DACA and 122 more will lose it each day. Thank you and Happy Holidays.’
‘Without the Dream Act, the human impact of Trump canceling DACA will be devastating. 800,000 young people will lose their ability to work and support their families and all will be at risk of deportation,’ The American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement.
