Glastonbury ticket holders will be feeling very smug right about now, because Adele has announced that she will headline Saturday’s show at this year’s festival.
The singer casually announced the news on stage at the O2 where she is currently in the middle of a six-night residency of sell-out shows.
"Who's going to Glastonbury this year?" she asked the crowd.
"See you there. I'll be there. I'll be headlining on the Saturday night this year."
She then added: "I've had to keep that secret for years!"
Adele joins Muse and Coldplay at the top of the bill for the Somerset festival this June. Festival organisers later confirmed Adele’s announcement on Twitter posting: “As @Adele just announced live on stage in London, she will headline Saturday night at this year's Glastonbury Festival!”
Festival organiser Emily Eavis also posted: “What a great honour it is to have the wonderful Adele confirmed for this year's Saturday night headline spot on the Pyramid Stage!”
Adele’s newest album, 25, has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide, and is still number one in the UK albums chart.
