Adele has filed for divorce from her husband Simon Konecki, after it was announced in April that the pair were separating. Adele and Konecki (a charity entrepreneur) were together for three years before they split. The couple began dating in 2011 and welcomed their son, Angelo, in 2012.
Court documents lodged in Los Angeles yesterday reveal the 31-year-old Grammy winner has now filed for divorce. The pair wed in a secret ceremony in 2016, but Adele didn't publicly speak about the wedding until her acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammys.
A representative for the singer said following the split announcement, 'They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.'
A week after their split was originally announced, the award-winning singer posted a hilarious image on Instagram to address her feelings. With the caption, 'when you catch yourself in your feelings then you remember who you are', the meme shows the two sides of Adele we've come to know and love.
If you're hoping the split going to inspire an album, then you might be in luck, as in March, Adele was spotted entering a recording studio in New York.
Konecki founded the ethical water company Life Water. The firm and its charity partner Drop 4 Drop 'fund clear water projects across the globe'. He told Management Today in 2012, 'I was originally an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and I was doing well and earning a lot of money, but I got sick of that greedy and corrupted world.'
