Things got emotional at Glastonbury last night as Adele overcame years of stage fright and anxiety to play a headline set to an enormous crowd at the famous music festival.

Looking overcome with emotion after her 90-minute set, the singer said: "I did it."

Her hit-packed set saw her trending on Twitter within minutes of taking to the stage, and at one point she parted the crowd to help a fan who had fallen ill – at another she pulled a 10-year-old fan onto the stage for a selfie.

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, hi, this the best fucking moment of my whole life," she said as she pulled the thrilled fan up on stage.

"Glastonbury means the world to me, I'm not just lying, I have always wanted to do this my whole life. I've been coming since I was your age.”

"You're f***** amazing," she shouted to the crowd as she ran up and down the stage.

The famously honest singer also revealed that the BBC, who were airing the performance, warned her about her language. (She said the F-word. A lot.) "The BBC had to give me a warning for my potty-mouth. Did Muse get that?”

Our favourite fact the down-to-earth star shared during her set though? Her night-before prep.

"I watched Muse last night at home, had a Chinese, did some washing up. They were amazing, weren't they?"

Had a Chinese, did some washing up, watched Glastonbury on the telly? It’s like we’re one mind, Adele…
