Embark on one of these trips and you’re guaranteed to leave Greece a little bit in love...
What We Did
Ideal for those who enjoy outdoor activities, there's plenty of things to do on this fitness retreat. Daily HIIT and pilates sessions take place on the beach, to help build up your fitness levels in a fun and inclusive way. In between these fun sessions, you can take part in group tuition for a variety of water sports, including dinghy sailing, catamaran blasting, windsurfing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Fully qualified RYA instructors will teach you how to work the water equipment and give you guided advice on how to master every activity. If you'd prefer to just kick back and relax, you can use lay by the pool or beautiful private beach to work on your tan. The retreat also runs a sail-away day to a nearby beach that has postcard-like white pebbles and tropical turquoise water.
The Hotel
Located in the beautiful island of Kefalonia, the traditionally Greek family-run hotel Lixouri Bay is perfect for a short get-away. The hotel boasts a gorgeous pool which overlooks the private beach, which is only a 30-second walk away. Famously known for its starring role in the film ‘Captain Correlis Mandolin’, Kefalonia has a stunning coastal scenery, a fascinating rural charm and incredibly friendly locals.
What We Ate
Where do you start when spoilt for choice with delicious homemade Greek food? The inclusive breakfasts and dinner at Lixouri Bay are served in the stunning roof-top restaurant that overlooks the beach and mountains. The all-you-can-eat spreads are incredible, featuring a selection of seasoned meats, seafood, traditional Greek dishes and exotic fruit and vegetables. On your free evenings, you can head into town and sample some of the food in the local tavernas. If you're going with a friend or in a group, we recommend ordering a meze at restaurants Faros or Erasmia - this way you get to try a selection of locally-sourced Greek dishes. And of course, don't forget to sample the fine Grecian wine, too. With 48 varieties of grape grown locally, there’s plenty to enjoy.
