Lower-back tattoos have made a significant comeback. Call me influenced but I jumped on the trend during my holiday to Bali last month. Angel, my middle name. It was perfect. Or so I thought until I had some sort of allergic reaction to the tape used during the healing process. This reaction left me with an unsightly dark mark on my skin, right where my new tattoo proudly sat. I was conflicted. The lower-back tattoo, once unfairly dubbed a 'tramp stamp,' had been rebranded as a bold, empowering statement. But now, ironically, I wanted to hide mine because of the dark mark. But summer has finally arrived and I have a wardrobe of low-rise jeans and mini skirts to showcase. I needed a solution, and I need one fast.
Enter the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound. An urgent browse of my emails looking for 'products ot erase dark marks' pulled it up. This product promised a lot; a body exfoliant that is engineered to smooth skin and remove visible irregularities. It also claims to optimise the skin’s natural desquamation process (the medical term for peeling skin), refine texture, and even reduce wrinkle depth.
The formula boasts an impressive list of ingredients: glycolic acid (which my skin loves), bioferments, biomimetic peeling peptide, flower acid, papain, shea butter, mandelic acid, lactic acid, phytic acid, and retinol. It seemed like a powerful cocktail of skin-renewing magic. And this on paper looked great, but I wasn't convinced. So often I try new products and my the results just don't live up to the claims.
When I first applied the Resurfacing Compound, I noticed its thick, serum-like texture. It was a bit sticky if I used too much, but I quickly found the right amount for my skin. I began using it on my lower back, hoping to fade the dark mark and reveal my beautiful tattoo again. Admittedly, I wasn’t consistent every day—I’m an inconsistent queen—but even with my sporadic use, I saw a noticeable difference in just two weeks, despite U Beauty’s claim that results are visible after 30 days. The process became a ritual. I applied the Resurfacing Compound followed by a rich body butter and then SPF. The mark began to fade, and I started to feel more confident wearing my low-rise jeans and skirts again.
Not only did I use it on my lower back, but I also started applying it to my legs to reduce razor bumps, and it worked wonders there too. Even my feet benefited, shedding dead skin and leaving them smoother than they had been in ages. Yes, the Resurfacing Compound is eye-wateringly expensive, but for me it was worth every penny. The confidence it restored in me and the visible improvements in my skin made it a valuable addition to my skincare routine. For anyone struggling with dark marks, razor bumps, or uneven skin texture, I can’t recommend this product enough. It truly is an underrated gem.

Apply this serum on your body daily and apply with sunscreen. To speed up the results I would suggest doubling up on the glycolic acid.

To boost results - there's very few products I swear by and this is one of them.
