Sarah Tarleton logs onto our Zoom chat fresh faced and wavy haired. Her smile is wide despite the numerous cardboard boxes piled up around her. Sarah and her partner Jim Chapman are in the middle of a house move and she pans the camera around for me to get an idea of her chaotic surroundings. Sarah is pregnant with the couple's first child too, 'we were going to get a dog too,' laughs Sarah, 'but we thought that would be going too far.' Sarah is sitting down with me today to talk beauty. As a model, Sarah is no stranger to the make-up chair and I'm interested to find out what beauty habits she has both newly adopted and adapted during her pregnancy.

On Her Approach To Beauty Before Pregnancy

'I mean, as you can see I haven't really got much make-up on right now, 'Low maintenance' is my mantra. I think a lot of beauty habits come from what you pick up from who's around you when you're a child. My mum really took care of her skin so I do too. I remember she'd wear the same MAC lipstick every time she went out - she had 10 lipsticks, all in the same colour. a real 90's style mocha shade of brown - and lipstick is all the make-up she'd wear because her skin looked so great. Her skin is impeccable. As a model, too, I have to wear such a lot of make-up, so it's almost a treat to wear less when I can. My job means that it's important that I get my cleansing routine right too.'

On How Her Beauty Habits Have Changed During Pregnancy

'Well first of all Jim and I are in the middle of moving house so we're currently living out of boxes. In our old house I had a big vanity table and I had a drawer that played home to all my skincare products. I was quite organised with everything. Now I couldn't even tell you where my box of beauty products is. As a result my beauty routines have been stripped back to the most essential products. I suppose in some ways that's quite good. Then of course there are various products that I now can't use on my skin because of pregnancy, I'm sticking to quite natural products.'

On Her Favourite Skincare Products

'I love a really good cleanser and I have two current favourites. I love Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, £26, I love an oil-based cleanser. I also like the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser, £34. If I've been working I'll use the Clinique balm as it gets everything off, but if I haven't been wearing much make-up during the day I'll pick up the Kate Somerville cleanser. I do have a Clarisonic too, which I loved during my first trimester because I had so many breakouts and it felt like I was like really getting in there and cleansing away all the gunk. During my first trimester I experienced lots of little breakouts along my jaw line.'

'In terms of moisturisers there's one that I'm never without, Embryolisse Laboratories Lait Creme Concentre, £20, it's a cult classic. I started wearing it because all the make-up artists I worked with would always use it on me on set. I'd class my skin as combination skin and I like that this moisturiser is really nourishing. If my skin feels dry before I go to bed I sometimes use Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Night Cream, £100.'

On The One Beauty Product Jim Always Steals From her

'The one beauty product that Jim always takes from me is the Dr Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads, £89 for 30, I don't use them at the moment because I'm pregnant but otherwise I'd use them once a week, they're really expensive. I remember being at home one time and thinking that I could really do with a proper cleanse and couldn't find the pads anywhere. He'd used them all! He said to me "My skin feels really great!" and I said "Yes I bet it does!".'

On Her Favourite Make-Up Products

'I always take the time to prep my skin, I like a good primer. I'm using the a new one from Estee Lauder at the moment, the Estée Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance Watery Glow Primer, £30.50. I love a foundation stick too, I feel like I have more control over it. I keep the application of it quite minimal. I'm currently using a Charlotte Tilbury palette that I love too, the Charlotte Tilbury Look Of Love Instant Look In A Palette, £55. It's got everything I need in one palette, which is great for me right now. I go home quite a lot to my parents at the moment to escape the house renovations and hate taking lots of products with me, so this is a real box-ticker.'

On The Beauty Products She Bought Specifically For Pregnancy

'I mainly bought things like body butters. I love the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter, £20.40, and they also have a Mama Mio Lucky Legs Cooling Gel, £20, I remember thinking during my first trimester that surely I'd never have any need for a cooling leg gel, and now I've discovered it's the most wonderful product!'

'I've been told by so many people that Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Body Lotion, £5.99, is supposed to be the best for stretch marks. Post-baby I'm told that's the nicest for your skin.'

On What She'll Be Packing In Her Hospital Bag Ahead Of Her Due Date

'Initially I thought that I'd just have to take a change of clothes, a phone charger and an outfit for the baby but when you Google it the lists that come up are insane. I'm supposed to pack cooling sprays for my face, and another thing I'm supposed to pack is a spray called My Expert Midwife Spritz for Bits, £19, that's meant to help calm bruising and swelling after labour. That will definitely be going in my hospital bag now.'
