As you can see, Daisy Maskell possesses serious skills when it comes to rocking a winged eyeliner look, but she's best known for co-hosting KISS FM's prestigious Breakfast Show and became the youngest breakfast show host in the history of commercial radio when she first sat in front of the mic there at the tender age of 21 in 2019. Since then she's hosted live from the BRIT Awards and even spoken at the Houses of Parliament about diversity in media.. Daisy Maskell is one heck of a role model and knows a thing or two about beauty to boot. Here she speaks exclusively to Grazia about all things beauty, revealing her skincare routine, her go-to fragrances and even her biggest beauty blunder to date.
My first memories of make-up: My Mum has always worn a dark eyeliner which I’ve adopted, and I can remember her killing that 90s brown lip liner trend! She would always give me the end of her liners, the ones that were too small to sharpen down anymore, to experiment with as a kid.
The perfume that I wore in my teens: It always had to be DKNY’s Be Delicious Eau de Parfum 30ml, £40.
My biggest beauty blunder to date: Wearing a high side ponytail throughout the first two years of secondary school. I would tie it so tight that you can still see the effects in my hairline today! I remember the ache of taking it down when I got home.
The scent that makes me nostalgic: Rimmel London had a Bubblegum Pink lipstick that me and my best friend would wear to school everyday with our green uniforms (it was so offensive). It was called 'Candy'. I don’t think they sell it anymore but the smell of it (or anything like it) makes me so nostalgic.
My favourite fragrance today: Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum 30ml, £56, is a revelation.
My current skincare routine: I’ve just gotten into retinols, so after I’ve cleansed and exfoliated I’ll leave one on overnight. I also love to steam my face every few days. I’ll fill up a bowl with hot water and add some dried sage and essential oils. I also have an obsession with blackhead tools – use with caution! I have gotten carried away on many occasions but they're great to clean out those hard-to-reach areas around the nose. Use an eye cream too no matter your age. Prevention is always the answer!
Here’s how I handle spots: First of all, no-make-up days are vital! I notice a massive difference in my skin when I eat clean and drink water frequently. But, something I’m guilty of is sleeping in make-up, just don’t do it.
The hair buys I wouldn’t be without: VO5 Mega Hold Gel Spray, £3.50, and VO5 Mega Hold Styling Gel, £3.29, are musts for me. Almond oil to leave in my hair overnight and Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Conditioner, £10.99.
The beauty tip I pass on to everyone: Natural eyebrows are the best looking eyebrows. A brow gel or even a mascara that’s seen better days are my go-to’s to accent my own.
My newest beauty discovery: I’ve just started dermaplaning. It’s a treatment that involves running a scalpel (stay with me…) over the surface of the skin which removes the dead layers and hair leaving your face so smooth. Your foundation applies flawlessly afterwards and it leaves you glowing. Obviously, this should only be done by a trained professional. If you watch videos of people getting it done online it’s so satisfying.
The beauty product that can lift my mood in an instant: I love a body exfoliator. I make a coffee scrub myself and use it every so often in the shower. It leaves your skin feeling so smooth.
My idea of the perfect pamper evening: I love a bath so much. They’re so underrated. I could spend hours soaking and watching documentaries or listening to music. A hair mask, face mask and Radox Muscle Soak, £1.20, are all bath staples for me.
The expensive beauty buy that I consider well worth the splurge: Skincare is something I’ve just started investing in. Not only to help maintain clear skin but also to preserve and prevent as opposed to trying to fix things in the future. I am a massive fan of Zein Obagi Skincare. The exfoliator is like none other that I’ve used - ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish, £44.99.
The cheap beauty gem that I wouldn’t be without: Coconut Oil. I use it on everything. I love putting a scoop in my bath, although I have to be careful when getting out because it makes it so slippery!
The one beauty product that I reserve for special occasions: MAC’s Strobe Body Lotion, £25. It gives an amazing glow to your skin and is perfect for highlighting your collarbones, especially in the Winter where my skin tends to look dull in photos.
