10 Hot Winter Beauty Must-Haves
Elemis Pro-Radiance Hand And Nail Cream, £24.00
The real hero in this ant-ageing wonder is the Omega 7 oil, which along with camellia and macadamia help to deeply nourish the skin.
Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Refine & Polish Miracle Polish, £57.00
A powerhouse of fruit acids to exfoliate, rice bran to lift dead skin and an essential oil complex to hydrate, this scrub is your one-way ticket to supple skin in winter.
Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer, £11.85
A Grazia Daily fave, this handy spritz has heat protection and helps whittle down your blowdrying time, but most importantly, keeps snow and sleet induced frizz at bay. Buy two.
RITUALS Himalaya Scrub, £19.50
Blending Himalayan salt with essential almond oil, this scrub will slough off stubborn dead skin and leave you with a baby-soft body. A luxurious must-have.
The Mio Body Brush, £14.50
Now, we can't be sure, but we reckon Elle Macpherson has about eight of these. The combo of boar bristles and little rubber massage nodules make this not your average body brush - it boosts lymphatic drainage and helps bust cellulite, as well as exfoliating. Detoxing just got a little more hardcore.
Rodin Lip Balm, £20
A cult favourite, this balm has shea butter and castor seed oil, as well as a blend of jasmine and orange flower oils - making it THE most divine lip soother going.
Elemental Herbology Tree Of Life Balm, £22.00
If you only buy one thing this winter, buy this. Multi-use, it can be used on dry skin, chapped lips, to tame eyebrows, as an intensive mask, as a cuticle oil, in your hair... Enriched with oils from the 'Tree of Life', (the Buriti tree) this antioxidant-charged number is our winter go-to.
Verso Super Facial Oil, £135.00
This baby isn't cheap, but it packs a punch. Fortified with a kind-to-skin, exclusive-to-Verso complex called Retinol 8, this oil has more anti-ageing power than any other kind of Vitamin 8. Expect renewed, supple, youthful skin.
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat, £9.99
Protect your mani from chipping in your nightly hot bath or shower to banish the chill with this gel-effect, super-sealing top coat from Sally Hansen.
Dior Huile Abricot Daily Nutritive Serum, £20.00
A luxury, we know, but this oil is for cuticle what a good brush is to your hair. This oil delivers smoothed-back, healthy cuticles and nourishes the nail and nail bed. We can't get enough.
If the permanent grey sky, minute-long days and freezing temperatures are anything to go by, winter is here to stay. Plus, it's the rubbish early-year kind of winter, without the festivities of Christmas or New Year to look forward to. In short, it's rubbish, you probably have a cold, it's raining constantly, oh and BLACK ICE everywhere.
While we can't offer much in the way of changing the temperature, we can make a few suggestions for beauty bits that might help ease the symptoms of the biting chill. From nourishing hand creams to super-charged scrubs, we've got a fix for all of winter's most common complaints. We also recommend developing a Game of Thrones-esque attitude to the whole thing and wearing a lot of epic furs, intricate braided ‘dos and cursing Jon Snow a lot. You know, just to spice things up a little here and there.
In addition to the aesthetic bothers of Britain’s longest season, we’d like to point you in the direction of a few handy health tips. One, zinc is better for a cold than Vitamin C. Two, your mum is right, wearing a scarf will pretty much stop you getting a sore throat. And three, you might not think you have a ‘hat face’, but it’s time to embrace the beanie, or lose your ears to frost bite. Have a click through the gallery to see our favourite buys to alleviate sore, tight skin, chapped lips and other cold-weather beauty bothers. You can thank us later.
