Now that the temperatures outside are climbing, if there's one thing on our minds, it's getting a bit of a glow. Bronzer is of course the universal cure for many ailments, be it lack of sleep, lack of radiance or just lack of colour, bronzer's got your back. But of course, those deceptively dark and muddy-looking squares of powder can be quite intimidating. We all know bronzer can be used to add warmth and colour to your complexion, but how should we apply it without looking, well, grubby?
Determind to crack the bronzer code, I sat down with makeup artist living legend, Louise Constad to get the inside scoop. Despite my Italian heritage, I'm usually the colour of cream year-round, and live in such fear of sunburn I'm not sure I've ever had a natural tan. A healthy glow for me always comes out of a bottle, tube or compact - me and the sun just don't get along. But, Louise showed me how using a few super thrifty buys (the Rimmel Natural Bronzer, £5.99 and the Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick £4.99, to be exact) I could actually get a sunkissed glow.
What Louise doesn't know about makeup isn't worth knowing, frankly. Having worked with every A Lister going (Kristin Scott Thomas is a fan, as well Naomi Campbell and Cate Blanchett. She even worked with Lauren Bacall!) and being behind the scenes at many a fashion magazine photoshoot, Louise is a seasoned authority when it comes to makeup. Plus, she's an all-round lovely human being, which is probably why I was so willing to apply in the manner she prescribed: with a heavy hand. It seemed like a lot going on, but the trick it seems is to be ready to buff, and be brave. Watch the video to learn more...
