She may have access to an abundance of expensive beauty brands, but when it comes to nail varnish, Queen Elizabeth likes to stick with what she knows.
Apparently, the Queen only wears one specific colour from a very affordable high-street brand: 'Ballet Slippers' by Essie. We know this because her hairdresser penned a letter in 1989 to the brand's founder Essie Weingarten, requesting a bottle of the best-selling nail varnish. In a statement on Essie's website, it says: 'Queen Elizabeth's hairdresser sent essie a letter requesting ballet slippers - the only colour Her Majesty would wear'.
The shade in discussion is a classic pink colour which has a flattering sheer finish, making it rightfully fit for a Queen. The neutral hue pairs perfectly with a number of different outfits, which is ideal for Her Majesty, who is always spotted sporting bright, bold outfits. Plus, it's priced at a mere £7.99, and if it's good enough for her, it sure is good enough for us!
Queen Elizabeth isn't the only royal member who is a fan of the high-street nail brand - Kate Middleton also wore Essie nail varnish on her wedding day back in 2011. Who would have thought it, eh?
