To say that braids are big news this year is putting it very lightly - but it’s not all bumper fishtails and rumpled, weaved halos creating a buzz. We’re set for a summer of itty bitty braids. Last night Amanda Seyfried hit the red carpet for Ted 2 with braids in her sun-kissed lengths.
The actress boasted five scalp-hugging plaits that prettily trailed into her hair, and ended in a knotted pony tied up just above the tips. It’s reminiscent of the catwalk cornrows we saw adorning the heads of models during SS15 Fashion Week at Giorgio Armani and Jean Paul Gaultier,
On the difficulty scale, Giorgio Armani’s rank the lowest, with their thicker, more tousled appearance leaving plenty of room for breezy, effortless braiding. Amanda’s precise plaits, meanwhile, call for intricate, finicky weaving, a blob of smoothing serum and – should you fancy it – a low-slung knot in the back.
You could also make like Cara Delevingne, who rocked a faux undercut cornrow at the Met Ball in 2013, in a crafty bid to show off the dinkiest ear tattoo. As cool hair goes, it certainly trumps a passé sleek chignon, no?
