There's a new viral make-up hack taking TikTok by storm and it comes courtesy of celebrity make-up artist Mary Phillips.

Mary knows a thing or two about setting our social feeds alight. She often causes a sensation with BTS glam shots of her celeb clients, most of whom she also counts as firm friends. Mary is the trusted make-up professional behind Jennifer Lopez, Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner's most coveted looks to date and regularly keeps her 1.9 million Instagram followers (and counting) up to date with her work - she is a must-follow for weekly doses of make-up inspiration. Having recently joined TikTok too, Mary is already making waves thanks to a make-up hack that quickly went viral and which has already reeled in over 2.5 million views.

Watch: Mary Phillips' Under Contouring Hack

'Under contouring' sees Mary contour, conceal and highlight her skin before applying her foundation. It's an unconventional technique but one that gives an insight into the magic that goes in to creating the make-up looks of the elite. The genius hack, which creates a seamless, natural-looking, sculpted glow is the impetus Mary needed to join TikTok. According to the pro herself, she had a yearning to share this step-by-step guide.

In her first ever TikTok Mary says, 'I'm loving everyones videos recreating my technique, I thought why not join TikTok and make my own. So, a little behind this technique, to me it makes more sense. It's like laying down the bones under the skin. The contour and the highlight being the bones, and the skin being the foundation.' Below, we break down each and every step:

Mary starts with a cream contour stick and a small but densely packed kabuki style brush for blending. She uses this contour stick by Westman Atelier along her cheekbones, forehead, jawline and nose to carve out her bone structure before blending.

She then brings brightness back into the face with an RCMA highlight, like the ones featured in this palette, and applies it under the eyes, under the cheekbones and down the bridge of the nose. This step acts as the highlight anchor for the next step.

Mary then takes this cult classic and applies it right under the eyes for a lifted look, before blending out with a Beauty Blender (another trusted classic for a seamless finish).

Step four sees Mary apply foundation all over the face with a traditional Japanese brush from Hakuhodo. The fluffy brush blends over all her existing work effortlessly without ruining things.
