Travelling can take it's toll on your skin and hair, especially when flying abroad makes you miss out on sleep due. But rest assured, you can look good on-the-go and ensure that you step off the plane looking - and feeling - your best. How, you ask? Simply follow these four handy travel tips that have been dished out by beauty experts...

Let your skin breathe

Tessa, Director of award-winning beauty salon Tessa Stevens, says: "Travelling will always cause your skin to lose moisture. So before you settle in for your flight, use your three step routine to give your skin a head-start. Before boarding the plane, cleanse and remove all of your makeup, tone to rebalance the pH level of your skin, then apply moisturiser to hydrate it. This will give your skin time to breathe and soak in the moisture during your flight. Thirty minutes before landing, you can apply your makeup to fresh, supple skin so that it looks (and feels!) its best."

Instead of packing your entire skincare cabinet into your hand luggage, opt for a mini travel kit, like the Clarins Take Off Grab and Fly Essentials set, £35 (which is available to reserve at the Heathrow Boutique and pick up at World Duty Free) for all of your travel skincare essentials.

Don't slack on dental care

"Flying long haul should never be an excuse to neglect your teeth and gums. Carry an electric toothbrush with you in your hand luggage and brush your teeth on-the-go," says Dr Hardik Patel of SmileArt Dental Group.

Don't have one? Reserve the FOREO ISSA Hybrid sonic toothbrush, £129.99, from the Heathrow Boutique and pick up at Dixons Travel to leave your teeth feeling squeaky clean all flight long.

Perk up your complexion

Lucy Morris, Digital Fashion and Beauty Editor of Grazia often travels long-haul on work trips and during Fashion Week. Her top beauty tip? "Just before you land, perk up your complexion with the YSL Touche Éclat Le Cushion SPF B10 compact, £35.95, which you can reserve from the Heathrow Boutique and pick up from World Duty Free. With a handy cushion for application, it harnesses the radiant coverage of the cult product but in a form that can be easily dabbed over the whole face."

A bright red lip will do the trick

"Subtle or fiery, a carmine coloured lipstick can lift your mood and your complexion - this much I know," says Lucy Morris. "Studies have shown that just one stroke of this shade can make a woman feel more confident. After a long-haul flight embrace the hydrating power of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture 1 Le Rouge, £23.30, which you can reserve from the Heathrow Boutique and pick up from World Duty Free, to elevate your look instantly."
