It's not very often that the majority of make-up addicts I know can unanimously rally behind the same blush. When I say rally, I don't just mean giving it their seal of approval before moving onto the next viral thing, I mean staying loyal to it from first swipe despite the ever-growing list of options available. Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, £19.30, is one such (rare) beauty buy. Since launching in 2022, Rare Beauty's famous flush-giver has taken over the blush market and is often cited as the best liquid blush going by make-up artists, beauty editors and TikTokers alike. In fact, #rarebeautyblush has amassed 87.7K posts on TikTok and counting. So, how could an industry marvel ever get any better? Well, apparently it can, as Selena Gomez's brainchild welcomes the newest member of the Soft Pinch family, the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blush, £26.
As the fourth blush offering from the brand, the new blush once again expands Rare Beauty's portfolio of trailblazing products and offers its loyal fanbase another medium to experience blush. The existing line-up covers almost all the bases: Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, £22, packs a pigmented punch; the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush's, £21, liquid-like cream texture lends a glossy, satin feel; and the Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush, £26, combines the benefits of a blush and highlight powder into one.

The newest blush iteration completes the family and moves the goal post further afield to prove that Rare Beauty isn't just set on dominating the blush category, but is actively seeking to reinvent it in multiple ways. It boasts a unique cream-to-powder malleable texture – founder Selena Gomez likens it to a 'putty texture' – which is altogether airy, pillowy and weightless. Based on texture alone, you can tell this is a brand that prides itself on creating feel-good products intended to make customers feel comfortable through a conscientious sensorial experience. And that's all before we even get to colour and finish.
I'd liken the colour pay-off to watercolour, it certainly packs pigment if you swatch it with your fingers but once blended into the skin it imparts a diffused wash of colour that looks like a real flush thanks to the product's ultra-blurred finish. Fans of the brand will be familiar with the shades available – Hope, Happy, Worth, Grateful, Alive, Thriving, and Truth – which correspond with some of the hues found across the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush and Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil, £20, ranges. But the doubling up of hues is intentional - much like everything else Rare Beauty does - and is part of the brand's plot to build us 'blush wardrobes,' which allow us to layer or swap in/out our favourite blushers from its growing collection.
It means there is a blush for every one of us. Want something punchy? Reach for the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. Want something soft and demure? The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blush has your back. As for me, to feed my blush blindness, I will be reaching for both.
