Yay! Prabal Gurung Is Launching A Makeup Line

Who's your fave Nepalese hotshot designer? Prabal Gurung, obvs. Celebrity fave - Gurung has dressed everyone from Hailee Steinfeld to FLOTUS herself, Michelle Obama - turned beauty guru, Prabal will be turning his hand to all things cosmetics for a collection with MAC. The collection will be just 14 pieces (and limited edition, launching in December in the UK, make a note in your diary!) but this won't just be a run-of-the-mill crossover. Gone will be MAC's traditional black packaging; instead Prabal's gone for super-luxe, weighty gold details to really made the products stand out. These will be some seriously lust-worthy pieces; a bronzer powder, a cream colour base, a buffing brush, three eyeshadow duos, three listicks, three Lipglasses AND two kinds of eye pencil, one kohl and one Chromographic. Phew.

Prabal told WWD that he wants the collection to be universal: "every woman, no matter her shape, size or race, wants to look beautiful." Hear, hear! We're all for inclusive beauty, plus Prabal totally gets the routine thing, saying he wants the collection to be buildable, too: 'take a lipstick - [a woman can] dab a bit on earlier in the day, and as the day progresses, turns into evening, turns into night, she darkens it and maybe puts a Lipglass over it and a little bit of shimmer on the cheeks." We love that Mr Gurung's au fait with our deskside beauty top-ups.

Not only will the range be compatible with our 5.30pm smudgey-eyeliner-to-smokey-eye, it will fuel our love for pretty things. That designer packaging has been carefully enginereed: "I wanted the packaging to be beautiful — so beautiful that when a woman takes it out of her purse, it becomes a topic of conversation." Prabal didn't mention this, but we assume he's going for the Instagram angle too. MAC are behind him all the way - James Gager, their senior vice president said “We nurture people along and help them — that’s built into our DNA.” of their support with Prabal's early shows.
