Following a string of sellout makeup kits, queen of backstage beauty Pat McGrath has announced the launch of her first ever permanent makeup collection.
Two years in the making, the highly anticipated 'unlimited' core collection is the latest project from her hugely succesful Pat McGrath Labs label. Inspired by her 25 year career as a makeup artist, the huge collection includes some of her all-time favourite shades and products based on her most iconic backstage looks. An antidote to no-makeup-makeup, the bright colours and intense pigments celebrate creativity and experimentaion.
In an interview with WWD, McGrath explained how the collection was like being able to shop her personal makeup archive.
'I can say, "This was the palette when you saw me do a tan and a bronze for Versace." I re-created shadows that I had to make to get that beautiful, rich seductive brown or that incredible metallic gold pigment that doesn’t exist unless it’s made out of eight different formula,' McGrath told WWD.

At a press preview in New York the initial pics revealed not only the extensive colour range on offer but the exquisite packaging. In fact, McGrath revealed in an interview with Bustle that she actually found the artist for her unique packaging thanks to Instagram.
The first drop - forty shades of lipstick in two finishes - will land at midnight on September 16th. This will be followed by lip liner in eleven shades, eyeliner in five shades, a mascara and an eyeshadow palette in three colourways on September 28th.
However, devoted fans can get their hands on the good stuff a little earlier if they subscribe to McGrath's site for the 'secret' pre-sale. McGrath likes to keep us guessing so the date of said sale has yet to be disclosed. Additionally, the range will available in Sephora US stores and via the Sephora website (which does offer shipping to the UK, albeit at a high price).
