It's a new year and a new role for makeup wunderkind Andrew Gallimore. NARS, cult must-have brand turned beauty-hall staple, have named him as their new Makeup Artisrt Ambassador for the UK. With a decade of experience as a makeup artist under his belt, as well as an ongoing stint as Hunger Magazine's Beauty Editor At Large, Andrew's certainly got the necessary qualifications for the role. All his plus points on paper aside, the brand say they're excited for Andrew to join as his makeup philosophy and Francois Nars's are one and the same.
'Andrew's affinity for bold, boundary pushing artistry marries beautifully with the philosophies Francois Nars established with the brand 20 years ago, which we still embrace today.' said Frederique Lampert, NARS Regional Executive Director for Europe. NARS are known for their unabashed use of colour, as well as their products which theme around a woman's natural sexuality. Their hero products, like the cheekily named 'Orgasm' Blusher and their multi-use Multiple Sticks have become essentials in many women's handbags, and have arguably shaped the way we do makeup today - no one would have thought of a consumer product that could be used on eyes, lips and cheeks before the Multiple.
The brand isn't resting on their laurels, though: their launch of a whopping 30 shade new lipstick range, Audacious, last year was a sell-out, and their holiday season limited edition palettes go like hot cakes. We love the brand for their edgy and cool (but ultimately, deeply usable and utterly unfussy) offerings every season. Plus, they like to shake things up with their ad campaigns - recent NARS cover girls have included Charlotte Rampling and Tilda Swinton.
Who better to pair with a brand that gives an underground look to the mass market than Gallimore, who frequently works with more subversive titles like Dazed & Confused, LOVE and i-D? We think is going to be a beauty match made in heaven. Gallimore will now have one heck of a packed diary trying to make time for his celebrity clients like Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and Jessie J...
