The Trend Du Jour? Lipstick On Your Clothes, Of Course

As beauty gals, our attention's usually focussed from the neck up at fashion week. All eyes, as far as we're concerned, are on the hair, makeup and nails of each girl swaggering down the catwalk, to the extent that recalling exactly which show had which dress or skirt can be slightly difficult. However, this season, we did manage to peel our eyes away from our beloved beauty to actually take in the clothes - and we spotted something we recognised. Lipstick! Compacts! Hairbrushes! Basically, the contents of our makeup bags, but sewn, embroidered and otherwise embellished onto the hottest items of the season.

For example, and perhaps our favourite, was the Perspex-heeled shoes at Dolce & Gabbana - with a lipstick set into them. With a statement red lipstick clearly suspended in the translucent heel, these shoes are definitely made for walking. Plus, there was the lipstick-emblazoned shirt at Saint Laurent, complete with a repeated motif of lipstick bullets that had us frantically drawing up a wishlist.

Then, master of utterly covetable bags Chanel (We're still not over the 'Je N'ai Pas Par Solde' box clutches from last season) had our hearts aflutter with these numbers made to look like their much beloved foundation compacts. We love. Wearing your favourite items of course, encourages you not to forget to pack their real-life counterparts, too. We also had a soft spot for Stella Jean's denim number, embroidered with a hairdresser's tools of the trade.
