Steel Yourself: Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes Are Making A Comeback, Led By Noughties Girl Paris Hilton

The nostalgia is real.

Picture this: it's 2004 and you're on your way to your best friend's wearing a velour tracksuit and Uggs, clutching a pink iPod Mini, which you just fired up with a run of the month's hottest music drops - Kelly Clarkson's Since You've Been Gone, Destiny's Child's Lose My Breath, and Green Day's American Idiot (because, balance). Mean Girls is in cinemas and life is good. It's more than good, it's full-on care-free. The early noughties was awash with the feel-good factor, so it's no wonder that today big brands are leaning into the nostalgia of it all; that Y2K selling power is real. The latest brand to get involved? The beauty powerhouse that is Lancôme. It has just enlisted noughties poster girl herself, Paris Hilton (Grazia's recent cover star - her interview is a must-read), to remind us of one of the biggest beauty obsessions of the time: Lancôme's Juicy Tubes, £26.

That's right, the original squeeze gloss is enjoying yet another revival and this time the accompanying campaign features an all-star cast that's set to appeal to millennials the world over. Hilton took to Instagram to break the news last week, asking followers, 'If you weren’t wearing @LancomeOfficial Juicy Tubes in the 2000s… were you even sliving?'.

Lancôme's Juicy Tubes were beauty icons in their own right. While all of them delivered a high-shine finish, some were jelly-like and transparent, some were pearlescent and others iridescent. There was a Juicy Tube for everyone.

Lancôme's Juicy Tubes were a gateway beauty buy for many, bridging the gap between teen make-up experimentation and grown-up cosmetics. At the peak of the Juicy Tubes frenzy, it's reported that 20 tubes were sold every minute in the United States.

While the range was briefly discontinued between 2018-2020 as the masses cast high-shine beauty aside in favour of matte formulas, Lancôme brought back its cult classic to mark the product’s 20th anniversary in 2020. The collection then underwent a second reboot in 2024 with a re-release of eight of the range's well-loved shades. This year, Lancôme is upping the ante. Not only is Paris Hilton extolling the virtues of her favourite Juicy Tubes shades online and across social media, but it appears Gossip Girl alumnus Ed Westwick (his recent wedding to Amy Jackson made headlines) and Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland are getting in on the act too. Dig out your iPod shuffles beauty gang, Y2K mania is back in session.

My honest review of Lancôme's Juicy Tubes

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'I am unequivocally obsessed with gloss. I carry three in my purse at any given time. And lip glosses have come a long way since the insipid, gone-in-seconds formulas I bought up during my school days. Today's long-lasting formulas not only go big on shine, they nourish my lips too. Win, win. And yes, Lancôme's Juicy Tubes have always been and will always be some of my favourite lip gloss buys to date. The sheer, shimmery gloss delivers megawatt shine while leaving lips moisturised and fuller-looking. They are scented just as deliciously as they were in my teens and the subtle shades are a mood-boosting spectrum of candy colours. It's hard to pick a favourite shade but Dreamsicle, a sugar-sweet pale pink, is as other-worldly as it sounds.'

What the brand says: 'Celebrate years of ultra-shine and feel-good texture with this nostalgic, cult favourite lip gloss brought back from the 90s. You’ll love the ultra-glossy formula that glides on easily with its tube-tip applicator. Welcome back our cult favourites in gotta-have yummy scented flavours in 3 shiny finishes: sparkle, creamy and jelly.'

What we know: Meet the formula that's so good, it remains unchanged since its original launch. Each of the shades available come equipped with up to four hours of hydration, three different types of finishes and an impressive, long-lasting shine that remains comfortable throughout the day.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'Still reigning supreme in 2025, the sheer, shimmery juice imparts mega shine while leaving lips moisturised and fuller-looking. They are scented just as deliciously as they were in my teens and the subtle shades on offer hug lips in mood-boosting candy-coloured hues. Being more holographic, than glittery, its multi-dimensional finish brings all the futuristic feels of the noughties but in totally wearable, sophisticated formula. It's hard to pick a favourite shade but Dreamsicle, a sugar-sweet pale pink, is as other-worldly as it sounds.'

Pros

  • Comfortable shine
  • Easy to apply on-the-go

Cons

  • Has some tackiness in comparison to modern formulas
