So yesterday was National Lipstick Day and across the world, lips were adorned with all manner of colourful cosmetics. The buzzword was, of course, MAC – the make-up brand who generously handed out free lipsticks in the States in celebration of the day. (Naturally, the internet went into mode: meltdown...)
Celebrities got in on the lippy action too. Kim Kardashian, for instance, posted an Instagram video of YouTube star Patrick Starr painting her lips with the – can you guess? – Kimmie colour of her KKW x Kylie Cosmetics.
In the post, Patrick announces that Kim will appear in a glam session on his YouTube channel next week – which will likely cause another make-up-related internet stir...
Later on in the day, Kim took to Instagram again, to post a picture of herself wearing a different lipstick. 'One more for National Lipstick day!' she wrote. 'Wearing Kiki velvet liquid lip on kkwbeauty.com.'
Jessica Alba took to Instagram too hashtagging the day. In a multiple image mini album, Jessica wore the 'Truly Kissable Lip Crayon' by her beauty brand, Honest Beauty, in her favourite colour – 'Coral Kiss'.
The crayon says it's an 'antioxidant blend of coconut oil, murumuru butter and shea butter' which helps to moisturise the lips. So effective is it, it actually won an allure Best of Beauty Award last year – which Jessica reveals in one of the Insta snaps.
Reese Witherspoon, 'storyteller in chief' of Elizabeth Arden, also took to social media yesterday. In her National Lipstick Day post, she uploaded a picture and some Instagram stories of her favourite Elizabeth Arden lipsticks, revealing the summer shades she especially rates.
'Slight confession!' she wrote in the picture caption, 'I’m obsessed with lipstick'.
After all the dazzling and delightful shades we saw yesterday, it's safe to say: aren't we all Reese, aren't we all!
