She has to, it's part of the long adhered to etiquette of being a member of the royal family. But every now and then a source lets something slip, or someone spots the Duchess reaching for a lip gloss (Clarins), at Wimbledon in 2019, or buying a pot of moisturiser (Nivea), in Boots on the King's Road.

From what we've gleaned so far, more than a decade on from the royal wedding that changed her life forever, the Duchess of Cambridge is strikingly, well, normal, in her approach to beauty. So, if you're in the market for a Duchess-approved beauty buy or two, get scrolling and browse ten of her reported favourites, from the tinted moisturiser she was seen purchasing in Chelsea's Peter Jones department store to the sun lotion that Princess Grace of Monaco adored too.

Clarins Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer
1 of 10

Eagle-eyed Wimbledon viewers, back in 2019, will have spotted Kate reapplying this very lip gloss as she watched a tennis match from the royal box. Clarins Natural Lip Perfector, £18.50, is packed with shea butter that nourishes dehydrated lips. Our favourite shade - and the one we suspect Kate chose too - has to be Rose Shimmer, a delicate and sheer wash of pink.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil

US Weekly reported in 2017 that Kate was a huge fan of organic rosehip oil. It's packed full of fatty acids and natural actives that reduce inflammation and help boost collagen production.

Ku00e9rastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo

It has long been rumoured that Kate's favourite shampoo is none other than Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo. The Duchess has been famed for her long, glossy, brunette hair since she first stepped onto the royal scene during her St Andrews days and the global obsession has never waned. Genetics have the biggest hand in the thickness and condition of Kate's hair, there's no denying that, but that's not to say that trying out a reportedly Kate-approved hair buy or two couldn't stand to up your hair's shine to Duchess-worthy levels.

Ku00e9rastase Nutritive Lait Vital Conditioner
4 of 10

The key benefit of this buy - reportedly the Duchess' favourite conditioner - is that it manages to nourish your hair with a number of lipids and proteins - these work in tandem to boost softness - all without weighing your hair down. The Duchess of Cambridge's hair is usually full of movement and that is likely down to a shampoo and conditioner - such as her rumoured favourites - that leave her hair free from product residue and build-up.

In 2015 a source told HELLO! Magazine that Kate's favourite mascara was Lancome's cult classic Hypnose Mascara. The same source revealed to HELLO! Magazine that Kate also used Urban Decay's Naked Eyeshadow Palette. The original has been discontinued but you can pick up a capsule selection of similar colours in the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Eyeshadow Palette.

In 2011 Kate was spotted dropping into Chelsea's Peter Jones department store and buying the now iconic Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser. It's famed for delivering lightweight coverage and lasting hydration.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

After her wedding in 2011 rumours abounded that Kate had applied her own make-up on the big day with make-up artistry assistance from beauty brand Bobbi Brown. It is widely reported too, that one of her favourite products is the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick , a blush or bronze-come-highlighter that, dusted across skin provides a subtle sheen.

Kate was once spotted by an eagle-eyed royal fan picking this humble moisturiser up in Boots on the King's Road. It's a fuss-free formula made with chamomile, a botanical famed for it's skin soothing properties.

It is widely reported that Lancaster, a sun lotion brand that launched in Monaco in the 1940s, is the go-to suncream of choice for a number of British royal family members. Monaco's Princess Grace was the first official fan and in the 1970s the brand developed a line specifically for her. Princess Grace approved the royal seal on the bottles, which read, 'Appointed Supplier to Her Serene Highness Grace of Monaco'. It is rumoured that Kate is a loyal Lancaster devotee too.
