When it comes to her favourite hair and beauty products Kate Middleton, or rather the Duchess of Cambridge, who turns 40 this week, keeps her cards close pretty to her chest. She has to, it's part of the long adhered to etiquette of being a member of the royal family. But every now and then a source lets something slip, or someone spots the Duchess reaching for a lip gloss (Clarins), at Wimbledon in 2019, or buying a pot of moisturiser (Nivea), in Boots on the King's Road.
From what we've gleaned so far, more than a decade on from the royal wedding that changed her life forever, the Duchess of Cambridge is strikingly, well, normal, in her approach to beauty. Sure, not every product comes in at under a tenner like the Nivea that set tongues wagging, but none of her reported favourites tip £100, and for a woman who has access, be it through funds or connections, to the most expensive skincare, make-up and haircare products in the world, that's saying something.

Eagle-eyed Wimbledon viewers, back in 2019, will have spotted Kate reapplying this very lip gloss as she watched a tennis match from the royal box. Clarins Natural Lip Perfector, £18.50, is packed with shea butter that nourishes dehydrated lips. Our favourite shade - and the one we suspect Kate chose too - has to be Rose Shimmer, a delicate and sheer wash of pink.

US Weekly reported in 2017 that Kate was a huge fan of organic rosehip oil. It's packed full of fatty acids and natural actives that reduce inflammation and help boost collagen production.

It is widely reported that Lancaster, a sun lotion brand that launched in Monaco in the 1940s, is the go-to suncream of choice for a number of British royal family members. Monaco's Princess Grace was the first official fan and in the 1970s the brand developed a line specifically for her. Princess Grace approved the royal seal on the bottles, which read, 'Appointed Supplier to Her Serene Highness Grace of Monaco'. It is rumoured that Kate is a loyal Lancaster devotee too.
