If your social media algorithm is anything like mine, your daily scrolls through TikTok over the past few weeks will have included sightings of a brand new top secret product. I say secret because its creator, Huda Kattan, has remained tight lipped on exactly what it is, teasing us with countless examples of a flawless base, before and after clips and side by side comparisons, all created with said secret product. She even sent the product to a select few individuals, including a handful of make-up artists and influencers, who have been raving about its results. Finally, Kattan has taken to the internet to unveil the highly-anticipated upcoming launch. Beauty buffs, welcome the Huda Beauty Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation, £32, which launches on 3rd September.
What is the new Huda Beauty foundation?
Huda Beauty is known for creating seriously good base products, from the full coverage #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation, £39,to its brilliant Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder, £34. The latest launch is the Huda Beauty Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation, a new addition to the brand's base category.
Kattan first took to Instagram and TikTok with a side-by-side comparison of the product, wearing the foundation on one half of her face while leaving the other bare. The results spoke for themselves and Kattan's post amassed over one million views on both apps. The key product responsible for Kattan's flawless, airbrushed-looking base is the new Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation, which boasts ultra-blurring and smoothing properties for a filter-like finish. It promises a medium-to-buildable coverage, all while feeling lightweight and melting seamlessly into skin, a feature which is only helped by its serum-like texture (it's infused with 1.5% niacinamide, which firmly places it in the skin-first foundation category).
Key ingredients like smoothing niacinamide and pore-blurring silica are certainly to thank for its impressive results but, along with the foundation, Kattan recommends using two other products which together create the perfect trifecta for a flawless base: prime, blur and bake. That means using a routine which sees you layer the (also) new and cooling Easy Blur Silicone-Free Smoothing Primer, £30, followed by the new Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation and then the existing well-loved Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder.
It was Kattan's vow to stop using filters in 2021 that helped spur her on to change the way she developed products and catalysed this new easy three-step routine that creates a filtered effect in real life. But does it really work? I put it to the test.
My honest thoughts on the Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation:
I was one of the lucky few to be given an exclusive first look at the foundation and it's safe to say it has already my new favourite.. As advised by Kattan, I've been following the three-step method of prime, blur and bake, using each key product in the line up and have found they really do contribute to building a flawless, blurred base that is smooth to the touch and stays put for hours.
That said, the foundation works just as well without the added extras. I used the shade Amaretti which worked wonderfully on my yellow-golden medium skin tone and, after using it for a full 10 hours on first use, I found it stayed in place (though my T-zone could have used a powder blot by the end of the day). It's ultra-lightweight, blends like a dream and you don't need much in order to achieve that perfect finish. I have post-acne inflammation hyperpigmentation, which was quickly remedied by the blurring effects of the foundation, as well as the coverage, all without caking, heaviness or leaving me feeling dry. The comfortable and breathable wear it boasts is all in keeping with the foundation's skin-first approach, which, if you're anything like me, is a non-negotiable. It's a resounding yes from me.
