Behold the best beauty looks of Paris' Haute Couture Week Spring 2020. The whole A-list world and his wife showed up to Jean-Paul Gaultier's farewell show, and we looked on in awe. Cue Jourdan Dunn sashaying down the runway, laden in items from the hotly anticipated collection.
She sported luminous skin, perfectly groomed brows and a sweep of statement eye shadow that looked almost daubed on. We saw painterly shadow techniques wash through the backstage make-up areas of last year'sSpring/Summer 2020 fashion weeks, but this version swerved the watercolour look in favour of a more abstract finish. Workable for everyday wear? If you're brave and keen to catch an eye.
The make-up team backstage at Chanel's Haute Couture Spring 2020 show chose borrow subtly from the 60s when it came to shadow. A subtle, diffused eye shadow look brought smoky mauve and grey shades to each models' lids, lash lines and sockets, with a few artists adding definition with a dose of white liner. A flush of taupe powder was used across the cheekbones, and lips balmed but bare to maintain that effortless Parisian flair.
Pink was the order of the day at Valentino. Skin was dosed up on glow, lashes layered up with mascara, brows brushed up (of course) and a flush of fuchsia swept in a 'C' shape from outer temples, right around to the apples of each model's cheek. The look off-set the colour-blocked couture looks to a tee.
Givenchy wise? It was all about hair accessories. If you thought the headband trend was due a fade-out, think again. On the Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2020 runway, it was clear the consensus was the bigger the better. Huge Tudor-esque velvet creations speckled uniformly with pearls appeared alongside 1920s style Flapper-worthy designs.
And then there was the graphic liner at Dior. To say we're a head over heels obsessed is an understatement. The trajectory of each lash line was marked with a long, dark, liquid flick, before a shimmering shade of dark gold was added to bestow a touch of glimmer in between.
