For a fresh, modern Halloween look that's actually pretty easy to achieve, look no further than Anne Hathaway and her leading role in the latest Roald Dahl movie adaptation, The Witches. Anne posted her new movie look to Instagram with the genius caption 'resting witch face' (needless to say we'll be stealing that for our own Halloween post!) and her followers marvelled. The make-up team had created a sinister blue-toned smoky eye complete with OTT false lashes and a dark and stormy lip look that was flanked on either side by some intricate faux scarring. It's the perfect fuss-free look for Halloween 2020.

Think about it. You don't have to commit to an all-out face paint job, this look simply takes an all-out make-up look to the extreme. Top tips for this one? Remember to define your brows and feel free to draw them on, zero make-up rules apply here, look how sharp and spiky Anne's brows look in character! Secondly avoid blusher and bronzer. This look hinges on a gauntness. Instead sweep a deep grey shade of eyeshadow into the hollows of your cheeks. Oh and when it comes to this look, there is no such thing as too much eyeliner.

We're not short on Halloween make-up inspiration when it comes to the movie archives either. Sarah Jessica Parker's character in Hocus Pocus serves up serious witchy vibes that are just as easy to attain as Anne Hathaway's. Then there's Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. If you've got platinum blonde hair and have always longed to experiment with wash-out hair colour and hair chalks, Margot Robbie's movie role provides the perfect opportunity and let's not forget the classics like Cat Woman and Morticia Adams.
