Joining the ranks of fellow insouciant cool girls Anja Rubik and Clemence Poesy, Dree Hemingway has been announced as the new face of Chloe's Eau de Parfum. Dree certainly fits the Chloe criteria: long, fuss-free blonde hair? Check. Strong cheekbones? A die-hard, season-transcending love of floaty blouses? Check.
The appointment is a major move for Dree, who until now has existed mainly on It girl lists and indie films, so bagging a major mainstream campaign looks set to shoot Dree into the fast lane.
Chloe said they chose Dree for her meeting the 'universal values of Chloe: modernity, natural feminity, free-spiritedness and independence. She is the epitome of effortless." We'll drink to that - Dree's signature look is her tousled hair, glowing skin and an air of nonchalance.
Dree made a catwalk appearance at the last Chloé runway in March 2015 in Paris. “She completely embodies the Chloé girl’s spirit and attitude. Her radiant beauty and personality express everything I wanted to convey with the fragrance. It is her incredible ability to be elegant, nonchalant and spontaneous all at once that is both modern and charming”, notes Clare Waight Keller, Chloé’s creative director.
Dree said of her new gig: “I am very honored to be the new face of Chloé. It is a brand that has been part of my life for a long time; it brings up a lot of memories for me. I am looking forward to continuing my story with Chloé into the world of fragrance“. As well as her hipster credentials (she trained as a Shakespearean actress at RADA) in films such as 'Nous York' and 'Someday This Pain Will Be Useful For You', Dree's of good stock: her great-grandfather is none other than literary heavyweight, Ernest Hemingway.
