The Dior Beauty Eyeliner Trick That Makes Eyes Look Bigger

Eyeliner novices will know that the trickiest beauty look to nail is the feline flick. But thanks to Dior’s AW18 show, we’ve now got an excuse for the wonky lines and uneven symmetry: 'You’ve just got to trace the eyeliner across the eyelid and stop, very bluntly,' said makeup artist, Peter Philips of the look. 'The sides should be open and disconnected,' making eyes look bigger, rounder and more open.

Another way to tap into the trend? Colour. From red and purple to blue, amber and pink, Philips used the new Diorshow On Stage Liner pens, which are out in April, to line lids, matching each girl’s liner – including model of the moment Adwoa Aboah - to their colour-popping sunglasses. 'It’s makeup for a strong, creative woman who wants to have fun, too,' enthused Philips.

The trick to nailing the look lies in the rest of the face. Forgo contouring and any extreme blush, foundation or lip product in favour of a pared-back, statement-less skin. 'My secret is to use a few drops of a glow-boosting serum, like Capture Youth Illuminating Serum, £75, and massage into the skin using round gestures. It’s great pre-foundation and lifts a matte finish,' says Phillips. Add foundation and you’re good to go: 'You don’t want to distract from the eyes by doing a lip or a blush,' said Phillips. And with that, the Dior look was complete.
