Couture fashion week has well and truly kicked off in Paris with the likes of Chanel, Giorgio Armani and Valentino taking to the virtual runways to showcase their collections for Spring/Summer ’21. And if there’s one thing we can count on from couture week it’s beautiful, highly Instagrammable hair and make-up inspiration by the bucketload. Here, we chart the best looks from couture so far, including insider knowledge on the exact products used backstage to get the look.
Giorgio Armani Haute Couture
The Inspiration: ‘The make-up was a combination of the Armani DNA in soft hues to enhance the femininity of the collection and was inspired by the beauty and history of Palazzo Orsini,’ says Linda Cantello, Giorgio Armani International Make-up Artist. So delicate, the skin was kept super fresh and minimal to keep the focus on the eyes, where silver accents painted onto the inner corners made a statement.
The Hero Product: Eyes were the focal point where the new Eye Tint in Ice, £27, a silver liquid eyeshadow was swiped over the lids while a little Smooth Silk Eye Liner in Black, £21, smudged under the lower lash-line to add drama and contrast.
Dior Haute Couture
The Inspiration: ‘I wanted to create a make-up look bathed in softness thanks to a translucent complexion, and eyes lit up with a satiny gold, applied subtly to the eyelid and more intensely to the inner corner of the eye,’ says Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make-up.
The Hero Product: For the eyes, Peter explains, ‘in order to open and brighten the eyes, I chose one of the shades from the 5 Couleurs Couture 579 Jungle Palette, £48, and applied a halo of satiny gold to the eyelid.’
Fendi Haute Couture
The Inspiration: Legendary hair stylist Sam McKnight spoke of the inspiration behind the Fendi hair vision (that was created by fellow hair stylist Eamonn Hughes in Paris) on Instagram: **'**The spirit of Bloomsbury, caught in a thunderstorm in the garden . Rain soaked hair bejewelled with Venetian glass hair combs by @delfinadelettrez.' Utterly beautiful, the ethereal theme continued into the silver embellished dresses and metallic make-up.
The Hero Product: It has to be the Venetian glass hair accessories from Delfina Delettrez which we'll be eagerly waiting for.
