What is the scent of summer to you? Perhaps it's breezy orange blossom, or heady hothouse lilies, or perhaps something with a light gourmand note. Or maybe, it's just the smell of suncream, charred BBQ sausages and lukewarm Pimms. Either way, our favourite summertime scents have the power to transport us to sunnier, happier times even when the weather outside isn't quite co-operating.
Some scents marry perfectly with a tan, others with sea-soaked skin and some are the perfect accompaniment to evening sundowners. Nothing signals in the summer like switching up your perfume, so cast away the patchouli notes and oud-y fragrances of winter and embrace a new season scent.
Our all time favourites include the now legendary Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, which is re-released on a limited run every year. It smells like a tan, if such a thing were ever possible, as well as having tropical notes. However, our fashion intern Laura is a strong advocate for 'Margiela's 'Beach Walk', which is the coolest, nicest summer scent ever. However, I have to admit I did use to wear Abercombie & Fitch 'Fierce', so there's that too."
Josh (of Joshington Post fame), our senior fashion assistant, has to give his vote to 'DKNY Be Delicious. I have some VERY colourful summer memories to that scent.", while Liz, our beauty director said Giorgio Armani 'Acqua di Geo' was always her summer fave in years gone by.
