We know how hard it can be to shop sustainably, especially when it comes to beauty. That's why we've teamed up with Boots, who are helping us, their customers, to be agents of change, whether through empowering us to recycle empty beauty products in over 700 stores across the UK, or enabling us to shop according to our priority, as part of the Boots Be More edits, which are focussed around recycled, reusable, vegan, cruelty free, or free from plastic products.

Better yet, at more than 700 stores across the UK, as part of a scheme called ‘Recycle at Boots,’ you can bring empty beauty, health and wellness products that can’t be recycled at home, and receive Boots Advantage Card points in return. Bring five empty products into participating stores and you will receive 250 Boots Advantage Card points worth £2.50, to use when you spend £10 or more in store. Boots will also track how many empties you bring back so you can see the positive impact you’re making to the planet.

As of June 2021, over 500,000 products had been recycled through the scheme. The high-street favourite is also reducing its emissions and minimising waste with 97.5% of its stores powered by renewable energy sources. It is also set to achieve 100% plastic-free packaging on online deliveries by the end of this year.

Below, is a beauty editor approved list to refresh your cabinet this winter.
