In an interview with May's US Vogue it was revealed that Andreja Pejic has been made the face of American beauty brand Make Up For Ever (which, by the way, is launching in the UK on May 18th exclusively in Debenhams).
Andreja Pejic made her name in the fashion world as an androgynous model (Andreja was born male), after being scouted whilst working in an Austrailian McDonald's. She's walked at shows like Jean Paul Gaultier and Thom Browne and starred in the Marc Jacob's 2011 Summer Campaign.
In early 2014, Andreja underwent gender reassignment surgery and made her debut as a woman during February's London Fashion Week at the Giles show, rocking an awesome Elizabethan-style ensemble with bold, black lips. Andreja may be the first transgender model to front a global make up campaign, but in November 2014 transgender model Lea T was announced as the face of haircare brand Redken whilst in March of this year trans teen Jazz Jennings was named as the face of Clean & Clear.
A sign that the beauty industry is finally looking to embrace diversity? If so, we're totally into that.
