Succulent Nails Are A New Beauty Trend And We're Not Sure How We Feel

We’ve had glass nails, KFC-inspired nail varnishes, oyster card nailsand even Pokemon Go inspired manis, but now we have really reached peak hipster nails. Succulents and nail art have combined to create (yes, you’ve guessed it): succulent nails. The botanical bonkers beauty trend is the latest nail-spiration to take over Instagram and to be completely frank, I’m not sure how to feel about it.

Australian based artist, Roz Borg, is the brains behind the nails. She told The Huffington Post that she had been ‘making real succulent jewellery and wanted to use the same application on something I had never seen baby succulents used on before.’ Top marks for originality.

The plants are glued to an acrylic nail using an Oasis floral adhesive, and then attached to the actual nail when it dries. If you're sat there shaking your heads at how damaging this all sounds to the succulent, they can be re-plotted as the glue releases the plant, and the plant is able to breathe and grow while glued to your nail.

Before we take you on a succulent nail journey, can we just talk about 1) how cute the baby succulents are, but 2) how creepy they look on nails. Is anyone else scared by this whole concept? And how on earth we are supposed to use our phones? Try texting with one of those little babies glued to your finger nail and game over. Great for the purpose of Instagram, but we’ll stick to our at-home chipped manicure for now.
