Hoping to grow your hair? Then I have to tell you that the Sisley Hair Rituel Revitalising Fortifying Serum is a game-changer. Eye-wateringly expensive, yes, but with all the scientific studies to back up the hefty price tag, this one really is worth it. The brand claims it has the ability to ‘improve strength and shine and promote healthy hair growth,’ and the countless online reviews appear to agree. Which is why I was intrigued. I’ve been trying to grow my brittle, bleached hair for years now and felt I had nothing to lose (albeit a few pennies) by giving this one a whirl. Excitingly, if you’re looking for stronger, longer hair quickly, then this is a review I suspect you’ll be interested in. The results, IMO are pretty impressive. Scroll on for the full low-down.

What does the Sisley Hair Rituel Revitalising Fortifying Serum do?

In short? A lot. Touted as ‘an elixir of youth for hair, this clinically-tested serum has been formulated to 'fortify hair strength and density.’ There’s some very powerful ingredients to thank for that - think a high concentration of plant-based extracts, proteins, vitamins and minerals. And it really isn't a one trick pony - this intensive treatment also works to 'protect natural colour, soothe discomfort and purify the scalp.'

How to use the Sisley Hair Rituel Revitalising Fortifying Serum:

Sisley says: ‘Apply three pipettes, section by section, to dry or damp hair on the scalp, in particular on the areas of loss. Massage with fingertips.’ The brand suggest you use it as an intensive treatment every two days for a month, then twice a week for two months for maintenance, so it’s not an everyday necessity - making it that slight bit more gentle on the purse strings.

How we tested it

Rachael Martin, beauty editor:

'I've been testing the Sisley Hair Rituel Revitalising Fortifying Serum over the course of four months, and I've been religious in my application. I use it every other night on a dry scalp (prior to washing the next morning) massage it in, and let it sink into my skin as I sleep. I've been travelling with work and ensured to pop some drops into a smaller bottle so I could maintain consistency.'

Our verdict

'Let it be known that I don't believe in quick fixes when it comes to hair growth. Yet, I can safely say that this has been responsible for the longest, strongest strands I've had in a very long time. Firstly, it's a delight to apply. The combination of the aromatic fragrance and the act of massaging it into my scalp feels like taking a dedicated moment of calm for myself - even for ten seconds. I did use this slightly more than the recommended usage - every other day - and found that just two months in, my hair did look longer and stronger. I have brittle, bleached hair prone to snapping, but found that my blunt cut was looking considerably blunter for longer. The most dramatic results didn’t come over night, however. It's taken four months in total to see the tell tale tufts of new growth around my hair line, for example, but they are definitely there - albeit at that irritating frizzy stage. The before and afters speak for themselves. Stick to it - reap the rewards.'

Overall rating

It's expensive, yes, but for my longest hair in years (in just four months!) the Sisley Serum is worth every last penny. It's a five out of five from me. Would recommend.
