So we know the beach doesn't normally require make-up. SPF, sure. A lot of that. But bronzer, eyeliner etc... Who can be bothered? But beach-side drinks? Strolling down the seaside lanes at sunset? Those are times you might want to wear a bit of confidence boosting make-up. That won't melt into your Mini Milk.
So we caught up with make-up maestro and backstage favourite Mel Arterto get some top tips.
-

‘Powder is not for the playa and is to be avoided at all costs. A beach face must look minimal, traceless and naturally defined not matte and dusty. Instead use the brilliant Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets, £2.99, to save you from all sweaty situations.’
-
‘Bye bye, black mascara. It's all about waterproof mascara in brown for the beach. We're talking light, casually-defined lashes, not a full-on spider situation, OK? Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara in Brown, £16.50, and Max Factor Masterpiece Waterproof Mascara in Brown, £9.99 will serve you well.'
-
'Never leave your SPF at home and reapply regularly. It is worth investigating in a facial sunscreen, too. Chanel UV Essential Multi-Protection SPF50, £41, offers the sheerest formula we have ever seen, gives bare skin a truly awesome glow and can be worn as a primer under makeup. Genius!'

‘When it comes to colour, the secret to beach success lies in being clever with the products you select. Search for sheer, balmy, lightweight textures that provide washes of colour that can be amped up when layered for cocktail hour. Try Stila Convertible Colours, £16, Charlotte Tilbury Bach Sticks, £30, and Maybelline Baby Sticks, £2.99, all of which can be worn on lips, cheeks and even eyelids.’
