Oompa loompas, tangerines, traffic cones... All of these things are orange but none of them scream 'beauty inspiration'. Turns out, though, that orange make-up isn't as scary as it sounds and, even better, it totally works. Here's five ways to channel orange in your beauty routine.
Orange Does Evening
Okay, okay, a metallic deep orange eyeshadow sounds terrifying, but applied in a subtle wash and complemented with small gems scattered across the eye, it becomes pretty classy. Offeset it with a matte, nude lip so the sparkle ‘sparkle’ is all in the eyes. Gems are a fun way of bringing flashes of light to the eye and Duo Eyelash Glue, £4.99, is super easy to use and will keep the gems on all night.
Key products: Maybelline Diamond Glow Quad in Coral Drama, £6.99 and 1.5mm Gems, £1.40.
The Peachy Eye
This one's quite a ‘straight from the catwalk’ look and is about a harmony of peach and orange tones, but you can totally re-create it. Lucy opted for peach lashes as well as a lid, for a ‘wash’ of the peach colour across the entire eye, but it'd look great with a brown/ black lash too (and probably a little less scary). Keep the lips glossy and go for a cream blusher so that everything's very 'real' and dewy.

The Neon Orange Lip
This look is nothing but the lip! The temperature was taken up in the skin using a cream bronzer, to compliment the vivid orange, whilst the brows were kept brushed up and modern. The lip was created using the M.A.C lip mix then patting the KIKO pigment over the top, to make it super pigmented.

Zesty Eye-Liner
Lines lines lines. This one is all about subtle dashes and lines, with a nod to geisha with the thin line through the brow, elongated liner and a tickle of contour. It’s a nice way to get a bit avant-garde with your make-up looking like you’ve stepped off of a photo shoot. The dash of black under the orange liner gives the same definition a classic black liner would, but the orange gives it a twist.
Key products: M.A.C Chromaline in Genuine Orange, £16 and Max Factor Glide & Define Liquid Eyeliner, £6.99.
Nailing It
We raided the nail polish box for red and orangey tones. Choose a base coat for each nail then draw 'dips' or 'splodges' of a different tone onto the nail.
Key products: Maybelline Color Show Nailpolish in Power Red, £2.99 and Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Paint in Orange, £3.99.
