US-based Marimar Quiroa was born with Cystic Hygroma, a rare lymphatic lesion that is commonly known as a 'water tumour'. The tumour has left her unable to speak and eat through her mouth, and the surgeries she has had in an attempt to reduce the size of the tumour have also affected her hearing. Two years ago Marimar started a YouTube channel where she communicates beauty tutorials through sign language.

With over 100,000 subscribers, Marimar is achieving major Youtube stardom and accruing a number of fans. She has made it her mission to spread positive messages of self-love and subverting beauty standards to her viewers.

In an exclusive interview with Barcroft TV, she said:

'People type their comments after they view my videos, and they say some really nice things. They tell me I'm beautiful and love my makeup.'

Despite the positive feedback, Marimar hasn’t been immune to trolls, both online and off. 'People tell me I look like a monkey...that my mouth is wrong,' she said in the video. 'I see them staring. I either tell them to stop or just ignore them, but if people are staring at me, I stare right back. I refuse to look away until they stop staring.'

Alongside her Youtube channel, Marimar has a ton of huge aspirations. She is currently enrolled in make-up school, studying education in the hope of teaching deaf children, and has gained the courage to teach Zumba once a week.
