Lipstick can be expensive and sometimes the colour that makes your friend look like Gigi Hadid makes you look like a worse version of Janice from the Muppets. But what if you could make loads and loads of custom lipsticks in the exact colour you want for pennies a lipstick? Read on.
You’ll need: Crayola crayons (don’t skimp out on a cheaper version, these are the most pigmented), shea butter, oil (jojoba, castor, coconut, etc), a metal ladle, a candle, container to place the lipstick (old lip balm container, contact lens case), vanilla or another flavouring to make the lipstick smell less crayon-y, a spoon to stir.
Peel off the crayon label.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of shea butter to the ladle.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of oil.
Add a drop of vanilla.
Break crayons into pieces and add as many pieces necessary to create the same amount as one crayon. (I used half of Blue-Green and half of Indigo).
Heat the mixture on top of the spoon until the wax begins to melt. This should take around 45 seconds.
Stir thoroughly and place the mixture into your chosen container.
Let the wax cool.
Marvel at your masterpiece. This is Purple mixed with Black.
Apply!
You’re not limited to crazy colours – I made the perfect ‘My lips but better’ shade with Brown, Carnation Pink and Red.
Go on, you know these crayons are calling your name.
