Just like many young screen starlets before her, Lily James has stuck two fingers up to her princessy image and done the unthinkable for a lady most famed for her roles in Cinderella (as the girl herself) and Downtown Abbey: chopped off about eight inches of her hair, and dyed it brown. Shocker.
Lily debuted her new 'do at Comic Con yesterday, stepping out with a shoulder length, shaggy cut that had oodles of texture and beachy vibes. It's quite the move, considering the promotional run for Cinderella is barely over, but we're guessing Lily was ready for a change.
Believe it or not, Lily is actually a natural brunette (just like Emma Stone was born blonde, despite being the hair-crush of redheads everywhere), and apparently was keen to get back to her roots.
This could also be a move in the way of Emma Watson, who famously went for a pixie crop as soon as the shackles of her rumoured ten-year 'no haircut' agreement with the Harry Potter studios were off.
Kristen Stewart, too, went for a more androgynous, shorter style after quitting Twilight, so maybe Lily's statement is less about the style, and more about her substance as an actress. A role in an indie film awaits...
