There’s no way any of us look our best come Friday. It’s a day for comfort – loose clothes, flat shoes and absolutely no trace of salad in our lunchbox. It’s also the day that, at 4.30pm when your boss hands over the company credit card with orders to head to the pub, you instantly regret making zero effort that morning. Cue: The Fishtail.

Step One: In Zoe's opinion, fishtail plaits look best when they’re disheveled and textured, so prep your hair with some Bumble and Bumble Pret a Powder. Roughly rub the product into your roots and the ends of your hair.

Step Two: Scoop all your hair to one side and loosly tie into a low ponytail with a snag free hair tie. Mess around with the front of your hair, keeping any stray bits/fringes safely out and free to roam for forehead.

Step Three: Time for the main event. Don’t panic, fishtails are SO easy. Separate your hair into two sections – A and B. Take one small bunch of hair from section A and pull it over to section B, letting it blend into that section. Reverse and repeat, taking a little part of hair from one section and pulling it over to the other.

Step Four: After about 30 seconds your fishtail will begin to form. Keep going until you’ve reached the end of your ponytail and all your hair is entwined as one. Tie the end of your fishtail with a small hair elastic.

Step Five: Carefully cut off the first hairband and style-up the fishtail, allowing any stray ends to poke out. Finish with some hairspray and take smug comfort in the fact that you now know how easy it is to achieve this urban-myth of a hairstyle.
