If you were to head to the Beauty District of London, where would you go?
It’s a good question isn’t it? Having not ever thought about it before – the existence of such a place – now, it’s all we can think about. That, and how much we’d love to go there. Pronto!
Luckily, we believe we’ve found it: Carnaby in London's West End. Because it’s home to such a vast array of beauty bars, shops and spas, it makes you feel beautiful just thinking about it…

Take their Benefit store for instance (Benefit’s flagship store we’d like to highlight). Not only does it offer spray tanning from Vita Liberta, blowdrys from the blowdry bar, as well as CND Shellac, CND Vinylux and Dashing Diva nail treatments, but it also offers body waxing services… and a Champagne bar to sit at afterwards; ingenious!
Make-up provider to many a catwalk, MAC, have one of their four global flagships on Carnaby Street too. There, they have make-up stations for either a quick and easy tutorial, or a full-on bookable lesson in beauty. If you can tear your eyes away from the rainbow of colours that are their product shelves and head upstairs, you’ll find their MAC Pro line on sale as well; it’s make-up for the pros (ergo, you!).
Think spa, think sp-aaaaaah – and then think Cowshed in the Newburgh Quarter. Described as a ‘little piece of country heaven’, not only does Cowshed offer some truly luxurious products – all amusingly called things like ‘Spoilt Cow Vanity Set’ and ‘Udderly Gorgeous Maternity Gift Set’ – but they also offers their visitors spoiling treatments: lightening 30-minute manicures and pedicures upstairs, and super indulgent longer treatments downstairs, like relaxing body massages, reflexology sessions, back cleanses and salt scrubs. They even offer a bridal package including a number of facials, body treatments and manicures to be scheduled for the days leading up to the day… Hen Party present, anyone?
However, if make-up is more your bag – specifically learning about it in minute detail – head to premium cosmetic brand Illamasqua’s School of Make-Up Art. There you’ll be educated in the ways of the professionals, learning all sorts of helpful tips and techniques; most useful for those breaking into the industry, or simply those who see make-up as an art.
Though if you’re looking to update your current make-up bag with some AW16 goodies, you will have to stop by Pixi on Foubert's Place. Their flagship store has been there since 1999, making them veritable veterans. Their top product is their award-winning Pixi Glow Tonic (which tones and tightens the skin with ginseng and fructose), however their Mattelustre Lips and Fairy Dust powders are must-buys too (because we all need a little fairy dust in our lives – agreed?).
And if that wasn’t enough, get ready for October – because next month, Carnaby Street welcomes the exciting arrival of Urban Decay’s first UK flagship store. You heard it here first…
Finally, to whet your appetite even more, there are whispers that a brand new beauty concept is launching in Carnaby Street at the end of the year… Intrigued? Want to know more?! Follow @CarnabyLondon or visit Carnaby.co.ukto find out more.
