Jennifer Aniston knows good hair colour. When not obsessed with her cuts -'the Rachel'caused a sensation in the 90s, and the world hasn't quite recovered since - fans are pining over her highlights. Naturally dark haired, how does Jen manage to hit on the hair colour of dreams every single time.

One man who knows full well, is Jen's longtime hair colourist Justin Anderson. Justin is famed for his prowess in the blonde sphere. You only have to look to his regular clients to see just how in demand he is LA side and why. There's Margot Robbie for a start, Miley Cyrus, Gwyneth Paltrow and, of course, Jen.

Grazia caught up with Justin upon the launch of his very own haircare line dpHUE into the UK - you can shop the range on Cult Beauty.

'I've always been fascinated by hair,' Justin says with a smile, 'when people hit on the right hair colour for them it can do anything from make their skin look more radiant to enhancing their features.' And Justin has nothing but praise for Jen, 'I've worked with Jennifer for around 10 years now, she's become a really good friend of mine. I absolutely adore her.' And yes, he's very used to constantly being asked about her. 'I understand it, she's such a massive celebrity and the first thing I always tell people is that the way they perceive her? She's exactly that. She's one of the kindest people I've ever met.'

'I was so nervous the day I first worked with Jen,' admits Justin, 'she's a hair icon, but I knew that we were going to be such a good match, so I was excited too.' Why such a perfect match? 'I'm known for creating blonde looks that keep hair healthy, and that's what Jen wanted. We have a very similar eye for hair colour too.'

So how is it done? 'Jen's look hinges on contrast,' says Justin, 'with someone like Jen I colour the shell of the hair, the outside section, because you want those darker tones to come through underneath, that's what keeps the overall look fairly natural in appearance.' Justin also notes that no one sun-kissed hair shade fits all. 'Certain highlight shades can make hair look great on one person and friend on another.' The easiest way to hit on the perfect sun-kissed shade for you? Make a grab for the family albums. 'Find a picture of you as a kid, after you've spent a bit of time in the sun. Ask your colourist to replicate those shades and you can't go wrong. I have darker blonde hair now, but when I was younger it was white blonde, and those shades still suit me today.' That Jen-An-inspired hair colour, it turns out, is only a couple of old photos away.
