Next, tong sections of the hair to add volume and a slight kick. Finish with a volumising spray and secure with a piece of elastic (not a tie), as the tighter you tie the ponytail the more volume you’ll get as you’re pushing the hair outwards.’ Time to pony up...

‘Heart-shaped faces should start with a side sweep to help conceal a wide forehead,’ says Reed, ‘whereas slightly square-shaped faces should opt for a centre-parting with pieces left hanging loose to soften the edges.’ And if your face is oval-shaped, you can just about pull off anything, apparently.

Add More Hair
