While nail art may not be your forte (mine neither) this is all going to change thanks to this negative space nail art tutorial by the amazing Sophie Harris-Greenslade aka The Illustrated Nail using the OPI Washington D.C. collection which was created in collaboration with Ms Kerry Washington herself.

It's easy enough than even you or I can do it, but it's still impressive enough that you can show off to all your mates.

Here's how to do it, in GIF form.

Step One

Prep your nails and file them into your preferred shape. Then apply a coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, £11.50 which will help make the nail polish last longer.

Step Two

Apply two coats of OPI's 'We the Female', £12.50 leaving the ring fingers clear.

Step Three

Using a striping brush (you can get them on Amazon) dipped in OPI's 'Freedom of Peach', £12.50, paint on a vertical line about a third of the way across the nail on either side, leaving a blank rectangle in the middle. Paint on a horizontal line across the top of the nail, again leaving the space in the middle of the name blank. Fill in the border with 'Freedom Of Peach'.

Step Four

Once that's dry, take OPI's 'We the Female' and use another striping brush to repeat the previous steps over the top of the peach shade, leaving a border of peach and fill in.

Step Five

Finish up with a top coat like OPI's Plumping Top Coat, £14.50 to help it last and give it a gel-like finish.
